Boars Hill (Winter weekend 2012)

Knowing the unknowable God

24-26 February (Fri-Sun)

'God is...' - and now complete the paragraph for yourself.

During this weekend we hope to look at our images of God. The image presented in the Jewish Scriptures seems at odds with the image that Jesus offers of His Father. There is a very old tradition of apophatic theology that seeks to speak about God without words. We will consider some different ways in which people have attempted to envisage God and see how we can deepen our own understanding of the 'Darkness of God' about which Denys Turner writes.

And perhaps the end of our week-end will find us in the silent music of God.
