Downside
Richer than gold (Olympics theme)
19-26 August (Sun-Sun)
All-age; Fully catered
The London Olympics of 2012 offer the opportunity for athletes and sports fans around the globe to celebrate sporting achievement, the pursuit of excellence and the triumph of the human spirit.
"Richer than gold" will explore the relationship between Christianity and the Olympic movement. The week will be based around five interlinking themes: ideas of competition and collaboration in sport and in Christian teachings; the links between the athletic and religious lifestyle; how Church teachings on the theology of the body might relate to sport; Church outreach during the Olympics; and practical ways we can put these messages into action.
It doesn't matter whether you are an Olympic athlete, or prefer a Little Chef Olympic breakfast - you are warmly invited to get on your marks to go beyond the games to seek out a prize that is "Richer than Gold!"
Chairs: Phil Russell & Adam O'Brien
Organisers: Tom & Alison Allerton
