Welcome to the CPW web site.
For over 60 years, since the very first Catholic People's Week was held at Wadham College, Oxford in August 1945, we have been providing "holidays with a difference".
In 2008, we are holding eight events, varying between 2 and 7 days, on a broad range of topics. All our events - be they weekend, long weekend or week-long - offer the revitalising mixture of engaging talks and presentations, relaxation and prayer, in a community setting, that makes CPW so much valued by its members.
Some of our events are for people of all ages - families with children, as well as people (of any age) without children. Other events are for people aged 18 and over (but there's no upper age limit!).
We are delighted to be returning to Ammerdown this year, since CPW has been associated with this ecumenical centre since its inception; we will, for the first time, have a four-day mid-week course at this upmarket, comfortable venue. We are also pleased to be making return visits, for full weeks, to Alton Castle in Staffordshire, Downside in Somerset and the ever-popular Noddfa Centre in Penmaenmawr on the North Wales coast. Our week at Hyning in Lancashire this year will be a Walking Week for the fitter amongst us. Our Autumn weekend will be at Ilkley, and our BGM weekend will be at the Cold Ash Centre in Thatcham, Berkshire.
We are running a family "taster weekend" at Alton Castle over the May Day holiday, which is specifically designed to encourage existing members to bring newcomers to CPW.

If you are new to CPW, feel free to get in touch with any of the people mentioned on these pages or in the printed brochure. They will be happy to explain more fully what CPW is all about.
Some of our events book up very quickly, so don’t leave it too late to get in touch. And there’s another incentive for booking early – we offer a 5% discount on all bookings received by the end of February.
